July was an okay reading month for me. I didn’t manage to read all the books I had planned on reading but I did manage to read most. All the books I did get round to reading though were really good reads and even a couple of them might make it to my favourite books of the year.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
I love a good murder mystery book and this one jumped out at me because its a young adult murder mystery book, which isn’t very common. I had some very high expectations going into this book and I am happy to say that this book blew me away. I thought the writing was amazing, it had me on the edge of my seat at times with all the twists and turns that were happening. Definitely one of my favourite reads of this year.

Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart
Scars like Wings was sent to me for review and ever since I read the synopsis for this book I have been dying to read it. It is something very different from what I normally read but I did like reading it. Once I started I couldn’t put this book down and I managed to get it entirely read in just one day. The topics bought up in this book were sometimes a little too hard to read about and it did make me emotional but I still enjoyed it nevertheless, and is also another one of my favourite reads of this year.

Lily’s Just Fine by Gill Stewart
I would definitely recommend Lily’s Just Fine to all readers who love a relatable, touching and heart warming reading. The issues it addresses within the story are done with sensitivity, and made me think about them a bit more. I did go into reading this book thinking it was a standalone but I have now found out that this is book one in the series of four books, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this series.

The Nightjar by Deborah Hewitt
I didn’t know too much about this book before driving into it but I quickly got hooked on the story and found it to be an exciting read. I really liked the world in which it was set, the story was gripping from beginning to end, and it was all wonderfully written. I did have a little problem when it came to the ending but other than that I thought The Nightjar was a really original and intriguing read.

Book of the Month
My book of the month has to go to A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. I really enjoyed reading this book and it was everything that I wanted it to be and so much more. I really liked the twists and turns in the story and it kept me glued to every page. I am so happy to hear that there is a second book coming out because I really liked the characters from this book and can’t wait to read about more adventures from them in the very near future hopefully.
