May was really good reading month for me. I managed to read nearly all my TBR, and all the books I read I found really enjoyable and refreshing. I finally finished one of my favourite book series, and it didn’t let me down, even though I have very hype hopes and expectations. I read my first non fiction book of this year and it has definitely made me more interested in reading more books like that in the second half of this year.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber
This is my third time reading Caraval and its just as magical and engaging as the first time. I loved diving back into this world and see where this fabulous series all started. I could read Stephanie Garber’s shopping list because they way she writes grabs your attention almost immediately and its such a thrilling ride and adventure. I think this book gets better and better every time you read it, and I don’t think I will ever get bored of reading Caraval.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Reading Legendary was a re-read for me after reading it for the first time last year. I couldn’t remember too much about this book originally but once I started reading I quickly remembered some of the events but still it was a fun and intriguing read. I loved the development of story and its characters, it was a solid second book in the series. Just like Caraval I loved every minute reading Legendary and I cant imagine ever not enjoying read this book.

Finale by Stephanie Garber
Saying Finale was one of my most anticipated reads of this year would be an understatement because I have been waiting to see how this series ends for just over a year now. I had so many high and unachievable expectations going into this book but for me Finale was a really enjoyable end to an amazing series and I loved every minute reading it. I’m not quite sure how I wanted this series to end but I fought the way it did end in Finale was a sitting end to the series.

A Time of Blood by John Gwynne
After listening to the first book in the series, A Time of Dread, last year and finding it really enjoyable I couldn’t wait to see what was in store in A Time of Blood. One thing I loved about the first book in the series was the setting and the story telling, and I am so happy to say that A Time of Blood carries on with the excellent story telling and the very intriguing setting. I thought this book developed both the plot and some characters really well and I enjoyed reading it.

The Five by Hallie Rubenhold
This is my first non-fiction read of the year, perhaps even a couple of years and I have to say it was a joy to read and it most definitely given me the urge to try and find more non-fiction books to read. I loved the way the author managed to bring new information and perspective to the popular murderer. I cant believe how much I learnt by reading this book and it made me look at this crime with a new perspective and has made me more interested in reading more books on this topic.

Book of the Month
This month was a difficult month to pick just one book as my Book of the Month because all books I read I found really enjoyable. But because I have got to pick one I have decided to go with Finale by Stephanie Garber. Even though I had very high expectations I thought the book managed to still blow me. I thought it was going to be difficult to top Caraval and Legendary, but thankfully Finale handled wrapping up this series really well and this series had become one of my favourite series of all time. I can see myself re-reading this series over and over again every year and still enjoying it just as much as I did reading it the first time. I cant wait to see what Stephanie Garber has in store for us with her next book.

I’m a bit late to the party but it sounds like May was full of great reads! I read Caraval but never picked up the rest of the series. So many people, like yourself, seem to enjoy it though so maybe I’ll have to give it a try!
