January Wrap Up

This month I am a little proud of myself because I managed to read more than what I originally planned to read this month. In total for January I managed to read a total of six books. I did like most of the books I read this month and like most months I have managed to read a range of different books.

This Lie Will Kill You by Chelsea Pitcher

I was so excited to read this book because it sounded like it was going to be such a thrilling read, but if I am honest I was a little disappointed with it by the time I reached the end. I found the story dragged and got a bit confusing and by the end I was not that bothered what happened and who did what.

Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

After reading Normal People last month and really enjoying it, I immediately bought this book and wanted to read it right away. While I did enjoy this book a lot, I didn’t like it as much as Normal People. I still thought the story was real and raw but I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I did with Connell and Marianne from Normal People.

Empress of all Seasons by Emiko Jean

Originally this book wasn’t on my January TBR but one evening I finished one book and I felt the urge to pick Empress of all Seasons up. I am so glad I did because I really enjoyed it. I found the story to be intriguing and the writing keeps you gripped to every page until you reach the end.

Dear Evan Hansen by Val Emmich

I am a bit late to the party with this book because it seems like everyone has either read this book or seen the musical. I have listened to the musical soundtrack for a couple of months now but I still found this story to be really interesting. I thought the story was really original and unexpected, I am not sure what I expected from this book but in the end I really did enjoy reading it.

Circle of Shadows by Evelyn Skye

After reading the blurb for Circle of Shadows I knew it was going to be a book that I was going to really enjoy, and by the end it surpassed my expectations. I thought the world was really well developed and the characters so likeable, but the story was the main reason I loved this because because it was so intriguing and so addictive.

Sometimes after Midnight by L. Philips

I am always on the lookout for a good YA romantic book and this book was recommend to me a few months back. I think this book has one of my favourite book covers ever so even if I didn’t like the book I still would keep it because of the cover. Luckily I did really like this book, it was a little predictable but it was still an enjoyable and lovable read.

    1. I haven’t posted it yet. Work has been a bit hectic and I’m falling behind a little. Hope you manage to see it soon. It’s opening in London the end of this year so hopefully I will be able to see it in a few months.
