The Pagan Night by Tim Akers

I have been wanting to get into reading a new fantasy series and when I read the description for The Pagan Night I thought it would be perfect series to start with. What I want from a good fantasy series is to transport me into this world that is full of rich detail, interesting and intriguing characters, well thought out and developed story and twists and turns throughout. I can safely say that The Pagan Night ticks all them boxes.

I cant get over how much I loved read The Pagan Night. I was left speechless by all the twists and turns, and my heart was pumping through out all the action scenes. I thought there was the perfect mix of action, intrigue and world building. Sometimes I find that some books concentrate on one of them elements and forget about the rest, but that is the not the case here. Reading the fight scenes was liking watching a movie on the big screen, they pack a punch and are really exciting to see. The same goes for all the plot twists and turns, you can never tell what is going to happen next because everything is so unexpected.

I am not going to lie I did find getting into this book a little difficult. It felt like the first hundred pages I could not connect with the story or the characters and I was a little worried that perhaps the book wasn’t for me. But thankfully I carried on and everything seemed to click into place and I loved it by the end. It might just be me and because I haven’t started a new fantasy series for so long I am not used to a slow build up of the plot and characters. But I am glad that I stuck it out because it was definitely worth it in the end.

Another thing I really enjoyed about The Pagan Night was the writing. To read a chunky fantasy book you need the writing to be spot on because it not it will become a bore to read and will be very unenjoyable. But The Pagan Night does not suffer from this problem because the writing it brilliant. The author has done a really great job in building a new and interesting world filled with intriguing characters. Apart from the first hundred pages I thought the story flowed really well and once I got into the story I found it very difficult to put down.

The Pagan Night has every thing you need for an epic start to and epic fantasy series. If you are looking for a fantasy series that sicks out from the many other fantasy series then I would definitely recommend starting The Hallowed War series because you will not be left disappointed. I cant wait to read the next two books the series now to see what other twists and turns are in store.
