In July I managed to read all the books on my monthly TBR and start reading a book that I have chosen to read in the month of August. I am so happy that I managed to read all the books because I was excited to get round to finally reading them. Like most months I did have a mixed bag of books because I like to keep my interests varied just so I don’t get bored and feel like I am reading the same thing over and over again. All the books I read in July were by authors that I have never read before which I liked because know I want to read other books they have written.

The books I read in July were-
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
Before starting Spinning Silver I had some very high expectations. I have never read a book by Naomi Novik before but after reading so many amazing reviews, I had really high hopes for this. I am happy to say that I enjoyed reading Spinning Silver an awful lot. Everything about this book is addictive, the story, the characters and the world building, make this book and enjoyable read. I will definitely be checking out Uprooted now to see how that book compares to this one.

Th1rt3en by Steve Cavanagh
Again this was a book that I went into with very high hopes. I saw this book everywhere in the book community and just by reading the description it imeditley grabbed me and I knew I wanted to read it. I love a good crime thriller read but sometimes I feel they are all a bit samey, but Th1rt3en is something entirely different. Just by reading the very first chapter I was hooked and knew that I wouldn’t be able to put this book down until I had finished reading the very last page. I did manage to read this in only a couple of sittings and on a whole I really did enjoy it, I just felt the ending was a little rushed, but if you are looking for an original crime thriller read then you have to pick up this book.

Brightly Burning by Alexa Dunne
I didn’t really know too much about Brightly Burning before starting it other than it being set in space. I haven’t read many books that are set in space, so its a nice change to read something different. I did really like Brightly Burning, I found it easy to read and again I managed to read then entire book in just a couple of sittings. Sometimes I did feel the story to lack some momentum towards the middle part of the book, but it did pick up again towards the end.

Venators Magic Unleashed by Devri Walls
I have had Venators sitting on my shelf for a while now and last month I really fancied something to read that involves magic so decided to picked this one up. I am really glad I did because I did really enjoy this book. I thought it was a really great start to a series, and I will definitely be carrying on with this once more books are released. I really liked the characters in this, and the story is just so intriguing. I am so happy that I have found a new series to get my teeth into.

In Search of Us by Ava Dellaira
After having the opportunity to review this book I immediately accepted because the synopsis won me over. In Search of Us sounded something a bit different from the usual contemporary read because its about a mother and daughter relationship. It also had the summery vibe about it, and I thought it would be perfect to read in the nice warm weather. I am so glad that I got round to reading this as well because it was something new and refreshing. I loved the mother and daughter relationship and that it was told from both of their perspectives.

Book of the Month
This month I have decided to choose Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik as my book of the month. Spinning Silver is a wonderful, magical story that will make you fall in love with reading all over again. Loved every minute reading this book and I know I will feel the same when I read it again, and again in the future. If you are looking for a beautiful whimsical read with a twist on the Rumplestilskin fairytale, then Spinning Silver is the perfect book for you. I will be definitely buying Uprooted soon just to experience the writing, the world building, and the characters all over again.
I picked up Uprooted a few months ago in the bookstore (mainly because the beautiful cover caught my eye…oops!) Ever since then I seem to be hearing Naomi Novik’s name everywhere – after reading this review of Spinning Silver I’m definitely going to have to make it more of a priority! I’m glad you had such a good reading month 😃
