Illumicrate Rise Up Unboxing

For the first time ever Illumicrate had a theme for its box, and February’s theme was Rise Up. I am so glad that Illumicrate decided to go with a theme for a box because I thought this was one the areas the subscription box was lacking compared to other boxes. I am happy to say that I think having a theme for the box did wonders, and I hope it continues.

The first item in the box was this Exclusive Fight The Darkness Cushion Cover designed by Stellabookishart. The cushion has quote from the Ashes in the Ember series by Sabaa Tahir. I really like the bright red colour of the cushion and the design.

The second item was this Exclusive A Rebel’s Command List by House of Wonderland. I haven’t had many items based on the Illuminae series, so its nice to get this item. I always like a notepad to jot down ideas quickly, and this notepad is really beautiful.

Another item was this Exclusive Inimitable Mug by Abbie Imagine. This is the first Hamiltion item I have ever received, and I really like the design for this. I also like the idea that the box included something from musical theatre.

Also included was this Exclusive Daggermark made by Jaime Arkin. This has to be one of my favourite bookmarks ever. Its something entirely different and is really stunning to look at. I really like The Winners Curse series quote on the bookmark as well.

Another item was this Exclusive Lunar Lip Balm made by Lovely Lip Balm. There were different lip balms to collect based on each of the characters from the Lunar Chronicles series. I got the Scarlett lip balm and it smells wonderful.

There was also this Exclusive Phoenix Magnet included in the box, and the magnet is made by Hannah Hitchman Art. I love Harry Potter items but I think this is my first Harry Potter magnet and I like the phoenix design.

Also included in this box was a Shatter Me and a Clean Sampler. As well as a Witchsign bookmark,a Strange The Dreamer postcard, The Truth and Lies of Ella Black Mirror, and a The Hazel Wood Notebook.

The first book included was The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green. This is an exclusive Arc edition with purple sprayed pages and its one of the most prettiest books I own. I can’t wait to read this, I have heard some really amazing reviews.

The main book was Blood and Sand by C. V Wyk. This is a Spartacus retelling, and it sounds really interesting. Also included with the book was a signed book plate, bookmark, a pin and a temporary tattoo.

Overall Thoughts

I really liked all the items in this box and I really liked that the items had one theme. I have been saying this for a while now that the I think the boxes would be great if it had a general theme, and now it has I can honestly say that Illumicrate has created an amazing box. All the items included are really high quality and because there is a mix of items it will keep any book lover happy. I can’t wait to see what Illumicrate has install for us next month.

The next Illumicrate will be out in May, check out the website for more information. Illumicrate.

  1. Ooooh, a good book to have in this box! I’ve seen so many people are excited for it – I actually have a copy myself but haven’t gotten round to reading it yet. I hope you enjoy it!
