January Wrap Up

This month I managed to read all the books I put on my TBR and read another book as well. All the books I managed to read this month were really interesting reads and I rated them all highly. I also liked how I managed to read some very different books this month with very different genres. I think this is a reason why I managed complete my TBR reads and read an extra book, because I wasn’t reading the same sort of book over and over again. I managed to read sci-fi, short stories, fantasy and historical books, I might to give myself a mixed genre TBR every month.

The books I managed to read in January were-

The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano

I really enjoyed the story, the characters and the writing in The Glass Spare, I was just a little disappointed with he world building. I felt that the world was a little under developed which meant I couldn’t visualise or loose myself in the world and with a fantasy read I really need to get lost in the world.

This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada

After hearing so much hype for This Mortal Coil, I have to admit that I went into this with very high expectations. But even with them very high expectations I was completely blown away by this book. I finished the entire book in just one day, I couldn’t put it down. I am so happy that there is another book in the series released very soon.

How To Hang A Witch by Adriana Mather

I really enjoyed reading How To Hang A Witch because it was something completely different from what I normally I read. I have read books about witches before but the way this was written and told made it feel very original, and I enjoyed it tremendously. The mix of historical fiction and high school drama made this a very addictive read.

Zenith By Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

This was another book that had so much positive hype surround it that I went into it with very high expectations. I did enjoy reading it on a whole, I did have some problems with some characters, and I found it a little difficult to get into the story. But other than that it was an interesting read and it was written amazingly, I cannot wait to carry on the series.

Beautiful Star and other stories by Andrew Swanston

I was sent Beautiful Star and other stories because I was part of a the book tour and I read all the stories throughout this month. As with a collection of short stories there are always some stories you like more than others, and thats not different with this book. But I can happily say that all the stories in this are written and told beautifully.

The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty

After hearing so much about The City of Brass in the book community recently I divided into this book with so many expectations, I thought I was going to be left underwhelmed. But I was totally wrong, and this book was everything that I wanted it to be and so much more. Even though this is a chunky book, I could of read more, I absolutely loved it.

Book Of The Month

It was a difficult decision to choose my book of the month because all the books had some amazing qualities about them. But after a long think I have decided to with This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada. I couldn’t believe how amazing this book was and even now I think this could be one of my favourites of the year because I am not going to forget this book in a hurry. I was gripped to every page and I even felt a little disappointed in myself once I finish the book because I had read it so quickly. There were so many twists and turns, I was on the edge of my seat throughout. I cannot wait to see what is planned for the next book.
