Bookish Advent calendar- Part Two

The second week of the book advent calendar for me is worse than the first week. I thought that perhaps the first week was a blip and that for the next two weeks I would get some books that I would enjoy, but I was wrong. I didn’t get any books that I would genuinely want to read. None of the books were from the genres I chose originally when I ordered the calendar. So all in all this weeks wrap up is an happy one.

Day Eleven: Despite Losing it on Finkle Street by Samantha Priestley

I have never heard of this book before and if I am honest I don’t think it would be something I would enjoy reading as well. It has only got a couple of reviews on Amazon and they are all positive but going by the reviews its not one of the genres I chose when ordering the calendar.

Day Twelve: The Hidden Cottage by Erica James

Another Chic Lit book! This advent calendar would of been perfect if I originally chose Chic Lit on my genres because thats what I seem to be getting the most of at the minute. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy reading some chic lit books, but I don’t think this one is for me.

Day Thirteen: The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

I have obviously heard about this book when it was made into a film, and I have never read a Nicholas Sparks book, so I may keep this one to read at some point. I don’t know if it a good story because I have never seen the film but I know quite a few people enjoy Nicholas Spark books.

Day Fourteen: Innocent Graves by Peter Robinson

This is one of the books that is part of series. I am unsure where about this book is in the series but I know its not the first book. I know when it comes to crime books like this you don’t have to read them in series order, but I like to because I can then see the characters develop. I may keep this book just incase I do start the series.

Day Fifteen: After You by Jojo Moyes

Again another book that isn’t the first book in a series. I don’t understand why they would send you the second book in a series rather than the first book. Or at least send them both so you could actually read the series. I won’t be reading this one because I have never read Me Before You, so I imagine I would be very confused.

Day Sixteen: The State We’re In by Adele Parks

I have heard some positive reviews for some of the Adele Parks books and I have never read any of her books before, so I may end up keeping this book to finally get round to reading it at some point.

Day Seventeen: The Gift by Cecelia Ahern

The final book for this week was yet again another chic lit book. I didn’t know too much about this book so when I checked out some reviews I saw that mostly they were very positive so I will give this book a try.

Thats all for week two, and as you can tell I a very disappointed in the books I had. I just wish I could of had one fantasy or sci-fi book. Something that I actually asked for when I ordered this calendar. Next week is the last week and I am not holding my breathe for anything good.

  1. Ok, I promise I am not giggling, but since I follow your blog this is clearly not for you!! I’ve been very intrigued by your Bookish Advent Calendar since you first posted about it. I am so bummed that you have gotten so many romance reads – did you get mine by mistake? Lol! =D

    1. I was annoyed at first but now I’m laughing every time I unwrap a book because it is definitely not my sort of book. It does feel like I’ve had someone else box because I haven’t had any fantasy or a sci-fi books yet. All I’m hoping for is to have at least one book I definitely want to read before the end of this week. But I think I’m going to be very disappointed haha.
