Books

December TBR

This month I know will be a busy month for me at work so I didn’t want to give myself too much to read and not be able to get it all read before the end of the month. I have gone for six books that I think will be perfect because they are not that long and I they all have something that I will enjoy reading after a busy day at work.

The books I plan on reading in December-

The Worldmaker Trilogy by Lucy Hounsom

Kyndra’s fate holds betrayal and salvation, but the journey starts in her small village. On the day she comes of age, she accidentally disrupts an ancient ceremony, ending centuries of tradition. So when an unnatural storm targets her superstitious community, Kyndra is blamed. She fears for her life until two strangers save her, by wielding powers not seen for an age – powers fuelled by the sun and the moon. Together, they flee to the hidden citadel of Naris. And here, Kyndra experiences disturbing visions of the past, showing war and one man’s terrifying response. She’ll learn more in the city’s subterranean chambers, amongst fanatics and rebels. But first Kyndra will be brutally tested in a bid to unlock her own magic. If she survives the ordeal, she’ll discover a force greater than she could ever have imagined.

I am reading The Worldmaker Triology this month because I am taking part in a Storygram tour. I have heard some really great reviews about the first two books so I hope to read the entire series over the next few weeks. I think I will enjoy this series because it sounds like it’s going to be a really interesting fantasy series, and I love reading new fantasy books.

Frostblood and Fireblood by Elly Blake

Ruby is a Fireblood. In a land ruled by frost, her very existence is a crime. She’s spent her whole life in hiding. Until the day Frostblood soldiers raid her village and kill her mother. The day she swears to avenge her people. She must travel deep into the heart of the enemy, to the court of the Frost King, with only the mysterious warrior Arcus – a Frostblood rebel – by her side. But with alliances between flame and ice strictly forbidden, is Arcus friend or foe? Ruby will only have one chance to destroy the maniacal ruler who took everything from her. But she has no idea just how hot her fire will burn…

Frostblood will be a re-read for me because I read it late last year, but I wanted to read it again to refresh my memory before diving into Fireblood. Last year Frostblood was one of my favourite reads of the year and I am hoping that Fireblood will be the same for this year.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

71pv-krZ4hL

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gates, reads:
Opens at Nightfall
Closes at Dawn
As the sun disappears beyond the horizon, all over the tents small lights begin to flicker, as though the entirety of the circus is covered in particularly bright fireflies. When the tents are all aglow, sparkling against the night sky, the sign appears.
Le Cirque des Rêves
The Circus of Dreams.
Now the circus is open.
Now you may enter.

Everyone has said how amazing The Night Circus is and I’ve been itching to get it read and for some reason I feel that this month is the right time. I love anything to do with circuses and magic, so I think and hope I enjoy this as much as other people have. The copy I have is a second hand copy so if I do enjoy it then I will have to go out and treat myself to a brand new copy.
