This month I have again decided to choose a smaller TBR because I didn’t manage to read much last month. As well as the five books I have chosen below, I will also try to read the books I didn’t get round to reading last month. With this months choices I think I have chosen some very different books from what I normally read, so I am hoping this will make me want to read more.
The books I plan on reading in November-
Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
My name is Magnus Chase. I’m orphaned and living rough on the streets of Boston. And things are about to get much worse. My day started out normally enough. I was sleeping under a bridge when some guy kicked me awake and said, ‘They’re after you.’ Next thing I know, I’m reunited with my obnoxious uncle, who casually informs me that my long-lost father is a Norse god. Nothing normal about that. And it turns out the gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Apparently, if I can’t find the sword my father lost two thousand years ago, there will be doom. Doomsday, to be precise. A fire giant attacking the city? Immortal warriors hacking each other to pieces? Unkillable wolves with glowing eyes? It’s all coming up. But first I’m going to die. This is the story of how my life goes downhill from there…
I have been wanting to read this series for a while now and after being sent the third book in the series, I think its time to finally start. I plan on reading all three books this month.
Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan
Thor’s hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon – the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn’t just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can’t retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer’s return is the gods’ worst enemy, Loki – and the price he wants is very high.
Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan
Loki the trickster god is free from his chains. Now he’s readying Naglfar, the Ship of the Dead, armed with a host of giants and zombies, to sail against the Norse gods and begin the final battle of Ragnarok. It’s up to Magnus Chase and his friends to stop Loki’s plans, but to do so they will have to sail across the oceans of Midgard, Jotunheim and Niflheim in a desperate race to reach Naglfar before it’s ready to sail on Midsummer’s Day. Along the way, they will face angry sea gods, hostile giants, and an evil fire-breathing dragon who happens to be a former acquaintance. But Magnus’s biggest challenge will be facing his own inner demons. To defeat Loki, Magnus will need to use words, not force. This will require finding a magical elixir so deadly that it will either make Magnus Chase powerful enough to out-talk the silver-tongued Loki, or destroy Magnus utterly.

Nyxia by Scott Reintgen

This book has been out for a couple of months now and I have been hearing so many great things about it. I don’t read that many sci-fi books so I am hoping I will really enjoy this one as much as other people have.

Rhyming Rings by David Gemmell
An ambidextrous killer is raping and murdering women, leaving virtually no evidence behind, and struggling journalist Jeremy Miller wishes he was covering the case. I was sent this by the publisher to review, and again it sounds completely different to what I normally read. I haven’t heard that many reviews about this book but just by going by the description it sounds like it will be an interesting read.
