Again it seems ages since I last unboxed an Illumicrate box, but I have to say that this one was definitely worth the wait. I had a little idea of what one of the books might have been before opening the box, but it was still a nice surprise.
Unboxing
The first item in the box was this Red Church Tea made by T-ology. I am so behind when it comes to drinking tea because I have only ever had normal tea with a normal tea bag. I have never tried loose tea before, even though everyone raves about it. Perhaps one day I will get round to drinking this.
The second item in this box was this Shakespeare Zip Bag, made by Miss Phi. This pouch will come in very handy for story all my little bookish items. It is surprising large and I managed to fit even a couple of bookmarks in it without bending them. I really like the quote on the front, and it feels like its made out of a really high quality material.
Another item in the box was this Alethiometer Coaster made by Hannah Hitchman Art. I think this is one of my favourite items from this box. I love His Dark Materials series, and I love any bookish items to do with it. I really like the design of this and I will definitely have it out on display.
Also include in the box was this Wisdom Journal, made by Hey Atlas Creative. At first I thought this was a print, or a postcard, but then found it had blank pages inside I realised it was a note book. I like the design of the notebook, its very striking and lovely to look at.
Another item I really like from this box this Book Money Jar made by Blossom Books. I think this is the first item a bookish money box has been included in a book subscription box and I think it is a really neat idea. I now have somewhere to put loose change, and save up to buy more books.
These Sticky Bookmarks were also made by Blossom Books. I see loads of people sticking these bookmarks in their books to mark off quotes or passages they enjoyed reading. I have alway thought I need to do something like that, now I have these, I can. I love the different designs.
The first book included in this box was Nyxia by Scott Reintgen. Recently I have seen this book all over the bookish community and I have heard some really good things about it. I don’t know too much about it, apart from its sic-fi. I don’t read that many sci-fi books, so I can’t wait to read this one. There was also a bookmark to go with the book.
The main book included in this box was Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. I have been wanting to read this every since it was announced, and now finally I have a copy. This edition is special because it has red sprayed pages, which was an exclusive just for this Illumicrate. This is the first time Illumicrate have done an exclusive like this, and I hope they try to bring us more like this in the future. Also there was a Wonder Woman pin included with the book.
Overall Thoughts
I have to say I think this is my favourite Illumicrate of the year. I liked how this time the book was an exclusive edition just for the subscribers of Illumicrate, it makes the box that little bit more exciting because we are getting something other people can’t. I also liked the mix of items included this time around. There was something for everyone, and I can definitely see myself using most of the items from this box. All the items feel and look great, so you know you are getting value for money with the bookish goodies. Again the box included two books, which is always a positive because you can never have too many books. Now is the long wait until my next Illumicrate unboxing.
The next Illumicrate will be out in November, check out the website for more information. Illumicrate.
