Holiday TBR

I have already made a TBR for this month, but I deliberately made a smaller TBR than usual because I knew I wanted a separate one for when I go away on holiday. I am only on holiday for a week, and I have only chosen two books to put on my TBR. I am taking my kindle so if I do manage to read both books I will have back ups. I am holidaying in Turkey, so hopefully most of my time will be spent in the sun, by the pool reading.

The books I plan on reading while on holiday are-

IT by Stephen King

To the children, the town was their whole world. To the adults, knowing better, Derry Maine was just their home town: familiar, well-ordered for the most part. A good place to live. It is the children who see – and feel – what makes the small town of Derry so horribly different. In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurks, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one’s deepest dread. Sometimes IT reaches up, seizing, tearing, killing . . . Time passes and the children grow up, move away and forget. Until they are called back, once more to confront IT as IT stirs and coils in the sullen depths of their memories, reaching up again to make their past nightmares a terrible present reality.

I have had this book sitting on my bookshelf for quite a while now and I think this is the perfect time to give it a read. The gigantic size of the book has put me off a little, and I think that is why I haven’t started it yet. But hopefully because I am going away and won’t have much choice other than to read this, I will finally get it all read. I wouldn’t be disappointed if I didn’t finish the entire book because it is one chunky book. I do want to try and finish it before seeing the new film though. I have read some Stephen King books before, and I really did enjoy reading them, but people have said that this is one of his best books. I can’t wait to at least make a start on this.

Vicious by V. E. Schwab

Victor and Eli started out as college roommates brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same ambition in each other. A shared interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl with a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the arch-nemeses have set a course for revenge but who will be left alive at the end?

This is another book I have had sitting on my shelf for a while. I absolutely adore the Darker Shade of Magic and The Monsters of Verity series by V. E. Schwab, so I have high hopes for this one. I know that she is writing a sequel to this book as well, so hopefully if I get this read in the next week I will be ready for whenever the sequel is released. I have read the description for this book and it sounds really interesting, and something that I think and hope I will enjoy reading. Many of the reviews have really high praise for this, so I am going into this book with very high expectations, I just hope they aren’t too high.

    1. Haha. I didn’t manage to read it all on my holiday. I got near enough half way through, so will carry on with it next month. I’m liking it so far, but it’s very detailed which means in places it does tend to drag a little. Hope you manage to read it soon 🙂
