In the month of June I managed to read a total of 8 books. Some were re-reads and some were books I have been dying to read for a while. Like the month before I found myself not very motivated to read, days went by without me picking up any books. It always seems to happen towards the end of the month. I don’t know if its because I am reading the same sort of books and by the end of the month I am getting a little bored of the same themes and genre. For July I have added some different genres into my TBR that I haven’t read for a while, so hopefully that will stop me falling into a mini slump again.
The books I read in June-
City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
I have been wanting to read all the Shadowhunters books for a while now, I did start them last year but I only managed to read the first two books in the series and then kind of gave up. This time I was determined to start and finish the series over the course of a couple of months. In June I managed to read the first three books in The Mortal Instruments series, and I throughly enjoyed all three books. I enjoyed reading and being part of the world again and I like that I carried on this time with the series instead of leaving it after book two. I plan on reading a couple more Shadowhunters books in July as well.
I will do a full review of each book soon
I rated each book 4/5 stars
Our Dark Duet by V. E. Schwab
I have been wanting to read Our Dark Duet ever since I finished This Savage Song last year. I love this series because it has something new and exciting about it. I really enjoyed this book and found the story and the characters to be a little more developed than the first book. I am a little sad to see this series finish, but I think she ended it in the best possible way, even if it did make me emotional at the end.

Skull Sworn by Brain Staveley
First off I have to say that I find this cover stunning to look at, I love books with swords on and I think this is one of the best covers ever. I didn’t know that much about this book before starting it, so I didn’t really know what to expect. But I have to say that I really like this book. The characters were interesting, the story intriguing and I found myself finishing it in a couple of sittings.

Dreamfall by Amy Plum
Again this was another book I didn’t know too much about before starting and again I really enjoyed it. I liked the premise of the story because it felt as if something like this could happen in the not to distant future. I found the characters to be very original and relatable, and the writing and pacing of the book to be very engaging. I read this in a couple of hours, I think I only put it down once.

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
I have been hearing about this book for years now, and this year I finally bought myself a copy of this book and the second book in the Mistborn trilogy. Before going into this book I was a little daunted by the size of the book, but I managed to read this book in no time at all. I loved the story and it was nothing like I expected, but I really enjoyed it.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J. K. Rowling
After seeing 20th anniversary posts all over social media and the book community I had to re-read this book again. I can never tire of reading this book because this is the book that started it all off, and made me a life long book lover. The only problem now having finished reading this, I want to re-read the entire series.
I will be writing reviews for all the Harry Potter books soon

Book of the Month
This month was very difficult to pick a favourite because I have read some really amazing books. But in the end I decided to go with Our Dark Duet by V. E. Schwab. As I said in my mini review, I found this book to be a little more developed both with the plot and the characters. I could read anything V. E. Schwab writes because her writing reads so effortless, you can never get bored of it. Also they way she thinks up the ideas for her stories is so imaginative, inventive and original, that all her books feel fresh and new. With two of her series now finished, I am excited to see what she has in store for us next.
