August Wrap Up

Tell Us Something True by Dana Reinhardt

I really enjoyed Tell Us Something True, its a great read for the summer and its a book you could read in one sitting because its only about 180 long. Its the first time I’ve read anything written by Dana Reinhardt but I will be checking out other books by her because I really loved her writing.

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

I have not read a thriller book in quite a while and its was great reading All Is Not Forgotten because it was different and refreshing to what I have been reading other the past couple of months. It did take a little while for me to get into the book, but after the first 30 pages or so I was immersed in the story and I managed to finish it in just over a day. Brilliant writing and a great story makes this book a perfect read for anyone.

When We Collided by Emery Lord

This is the second contemporary book I read this month and I really enjoyed this one as well. I liked the way that the chapter kept changing between Jonah and Vivi because we were able to get into the minds of both the characters. I also liked the direction in which the story went and it was a nice change to how some contemporary books end. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who looking for something different in a contemporary book.

Inherited by Freedom Matthews

I just want to start off my saying that everyone needs to go and buy the book because you will not be disappointed. This book has everything pirates, magic, action, love story, brilliant characters, awesome locations, it has the lot and all this makes the book completely unforgettable. As soon as I started it I was hooked and I wanted to be a pirate aboard the Wilted Rose. I have been wanting to read this book since it was announced and I loved it from start to finish. Freedom Matthews is definitely onto a winner with this series because the characters are superb and the way in which she writes will have you gripped and left you wanting more.

The Girl Of Ink And Stars by Kiran Millwood Hardgrave

This is another book I really enjoyed this month. After seeing it was Waterstone’s book of the month a couple of months ago I decided to buy it and give it ago. The book in itself is stunning the cover is so pretty, but once you open the book and look at the pages you cant not fall in love with it. The pages are decorated so lovingly it was a pleasure just to read the words off of them. The story is exactly the same as the design of the book, beautiful, magical and stunning. Even though this is Kiran Millwood Hardgrave’s first book you can not tell because it reads like this is her tenth book, the writing is exquisite and the storyline is very original.

Heir Of Fire by Sarah.J Maas

I finished Crown Of Midnight a few months ago and I was a little worried that I had left it to long before reading Heir Of Fire, but once I got into the swing on things everything came back to me and I loved it. As the Throne of Glass series progressed the books are getting better and better and this book left me breathless a few times. I cant believe that I nearly gave up with the series after Throne Of Glass because I would of missed out reading this book. Heir Of Fire is a brilliant third book and when I finished I had to start Queen Of Shadows straight away.

Queen Of Shadows by Sarah. J Maas

I’m not going to lie I have not completely finished this book yet, but I am going to but it in my August wrap up anyway. I am about 200 pages from the end and I’m sure by the end of the day I will have it finished. From what I’ve read so far I’m so excited for the series, I cant see how this is going to end and I’m so glad I haven’t got long to wait until Empire Of Storms is released so I can continue on the adventure.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

I have carried on listening to the Harry Potter series in audiobook form and I am really loving it. I was a little daunted at the time it would take to listen to this audiobook because it was over 29 hours. But with me listening to the book in x2.5 speed it took no time at all and I enjoyed it so much. Every time I read Order Of The Phoenix my opinions change from really liking the book, to thinking the book is to long and it slows down the pace. By listening to this book I have found a whole new love for the book, I loved every part of the book and even the main death affected me, even though I have read the book at least ten times.

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

Another night shift at work meant another night of audiobooks and after I finished Order Of The Phoenix I was on a Harry Potter hype and started Half Blood Prince. Again I really enjoyed listening to this book as an audiobook because for me it is refreshing and Stephen Fry’s voice for the characters is brilliant. I am so glad that I have all the audiobooks for the series because I will definitely be listening to them more over the years to come. If you have never tried an audiobook and love Harry Potter or want to try Harry Potter I recommend trying out the Stephen Fry editions because you will instantly fall in love with them.

It is hard to pick my favourite book this month because Harry Potter will always hold a place in my heart as my favourite, but one book I read this month that completely blew me away was Inherited by Freedom Matthews. It is an outstanding book and I cannot recommend it enough.
