Illumicrate- August Unboxing (Spoilers)

img_3803

This is now my fourth box from Illumicrate and it is the best yet. I thought that May’s box was going to be hard to beat because I loved everything in that box, but August’s box was superb! Everything in the box is great and of such high quality. Some subscription boxes seem to fill their boxes with things that you wouldn’t really us or need but Illumicrate is full to the brim with great bookish items.

In this months crate we were treated to two books and a sampler.

The first book was Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. Even though I have already read this awesome book I only had a proof copy and the copy we got in the crate was a fully finished hardback edition, it looks so beautiful. Also with the book came a signed bookplate, a Nevernight bookmark and a stunning art card of the book cover.

The second book was a finished copy of The Graces by Laure Eve. I’ve heard some great things about book and I cant wait to give it a read. This book is not yet released so it was a nice surprise to have it early. With this book we also a handwritten letter from the author as well as a signed bookplate.

The sampler we had was from the highly anticipated release of A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir. I have not read this little sampler yet because I know if I start it I will be even more eager to get my hands on the complete book. Even though I wont read it, the sampler is still a great item to have in the crate.

My favourite items in the entire crate are these two Harry Potter coasters made by Taratjah Art. The coasters are an exclusive item, which means that only the Illumicrate subscribers have these. They show the trio from the original story and the trio from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Play. They are so gorgeous and stunning to look at, I don’t think I will be able to use them as coaster. I will instead put them with the rest of my Harry Potter memorabilia.

Another great item that was included in this months crate was a Drink Me Strawberry Tea by Post Tea. Again this item was an exclusive which is always a great thing for subscribers. I have never tried any sort of fruity tea, but as soon as I undid the packet I knew I would try this one. The smell for this flavour is divine and I wish there was some sort of candle for it so I could just smell it all the time.

I do like a good tote bag and this one is made of some great material and I know it will with stand quite a few books. I have never watched Gilmore Girls so I don’t really get the design, but its a good looking bag that I am sure I will use. This bag is another exclusive item from Colorful Geekiness.

These two beautiful colouring quotes were made by Ashley Poston. The quotes are from Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows and Grisha Trilogy. I think this will get me in the swing to start the colouring craze. I have yet to finish a complete picture so hopefully these will tempt me.

Four awesome art cards from the Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown were also included. I have not read any of the Red Rising books but these cards are stunning and I think I will have to display them somewhere.

Other extras that were included in the crate were-

  • A 30% discount code for unique bookmarks from MyBOOKmark.
  • Temporary Tattoos for the witches that feature in The Graces by Laure Eve.
  • A discount code for Unboxed by Non Pratt.

Overall Illumicrate is a perfect subscription box for any book lover who wants to add some great books and bookish items to their collections. I have never been disappointed with anything from Illumicrate and that’s the reason why I will continue to subscribe to them. The next crate will be shipping in November, you should definitely go and check them out if something like this is for you, Illumicrate.

  1. Looks like an amazing box! I’ve never tried Illumicrate before, but I’m definitely going to now! So far I’ve mostly tried OwlCrate, Uppercase Box, The Best Damn Book Box, NovelTea Club, and Fairyloot. There are a couple I love out of those ones (Fairyloot, Uppercase, and NovelTea) and a couple I really didn’t like (Best Damn Book Box) and a few that are just super hit and miss (OwlCrate).

    1. Wow you’ve tired quite a few different ones then. The only other one I’ve tried apart from Illumicrate is June’s Fairyloot. I loved everything the Fairyloot box, but I haven’t been able to buy any others because they keep selling out fast. I can see what you mean about the Owlcrate boxes being hit and miss, when I see some of the unboxings I’m a little underwhelmed. You should definitely try Illumicrate, the crates just seem to be getting better and better with each one. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for November’s crate.
