Summer Reads 2016

I have decided to pick some books that I want to read over the summer months. I know in the UK we don’t get much sun in our summer, so I will make the most of the sun when I can by reading outside with a good book. The books I have chosen to read are-

🔹Frostblood by Elly Blake
I have wanted to read this for a while now after reading about and seeing the proof editions released. I love a good YA fantasy and this looks like it going to be a book I’m really going to enjoy. (Since writing this I have read the book and it’s amazing, a definite favourite of the year for me).

🔹Inherited by Freedom Matthews
This is another book that I have been wanting to read since reading about it all over Instagram. I haven’t read a book about pirates in a while and I think this would be great to read while lying in the sun.

🔹I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book so I decided to buy it at the beginning of the year. I’ve kept putting of reading it until the summer because I think the summer is a perfect time to read contemporary novels.

🔹When We Collided by Emery Lord
A couple of months ago I saw this book all over Instagram, so was glad when I opened May’s Illumicrate to find this in the box. Again I have put of reading this just so I can read it outside relaxing in the sun.

🔹Justice Buried by Hilary Thompson

I haven’t read many space/Sci-Fi themed books this year and once I won this book in a giveaway I’ve been itching to read it. It looks a lot of fun and because it’s part of a series I know I have a few more books to read after.

🔹The Girl Of Ink And Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
When I bought this it was definitely because of the cover. The cover is stunning with the Oranges and blues, it’s just all very eye catching. Then when you open it up the pages and full of decorate and beauty. I don’t know much about this book but if it’s half as good as the book looks then I know I will enjoy it.

🔹Heir Of Fire by Sarah.J.Maas
With Empire of Storms being released in September, I need to both this and Queen of Shadows. I’ve deliberately spread this books out of the year because I didn’t want to marathon them all at the beginning of the year then hang around waiting for the next book to be released. I have been enjoying the series has the books have gone on and I am sure I’m going to love reading this book.

Have you decided on what you are reading over the summer? If so what are you planning on reading?

  1. I’m more of a mood reader, which means I don’t really plan what I read but go with what I feel like reading (:
Right now I’m in the mood for gripping fantasy books – well, my top genre *is* fantasy, so no surprise there.
You have here a great list. I haven’t read any of these books but I deffinitely heard of them.
    I hope you’ll enjoy them all! ^^

  2. Normally I don’t plan on what I read but I saw these books on my shelf and I was like “I wanna read these in the sun” so that how this came about really. With the British summer though I might only have a couple of days to read them all. 🙂

I’m loving fantasy at the minute. I just read Frostblood by Elly Blake and it was amazing. You should definitely check it out when it’s released in January or you could try getting an arc.
